Shell Malaysia Completes Pilot Program for Greening its fuel stations
On the 2nd of April 2019 Shell Malaysia announced it had completed a pilot program across 2 of its stores focusing on carbon emissions and water consumption reduction.
Damansara Jaya and Taman Connaught stores are the first of Shell’s 950 Malaysian bases stores to receive Solar PV, LED lighting, white solar radiation reflecting roof paint, waterless urinals and water saving taps.
The stores also received an Optergy Energy Monitoring System which allows benchmarking and tracking of Electricity and Water performance which is displayed live on an electronic notice board within the shop.

The improvements translate to around RM22,750 ($5,550USD) reduction in energy costs and a 310 cubic meters of water per annum.
Shell is the first in the Asia Pacific region to go the green route for retail fuel stations. Steve Guzelimian (President, Optergy) said, “Shell are setting a high bar for other fuel station brands across Asia and the world with their 50% emissions reduction target by 2025. Optergy were thrilled to be part of the pilot program and are looking forward to working with Shell in the future on the stores rollout program”.
