BERRY FARM
Becoming off grid by 2018
A Farm House by BEMS Energy (Optergy reseller) who are based in Bristol, UK, plans to be totally off grid by 2018.
The vision is to create a farm that is completely off the grid and self-sufficient. The farm will not be tied to any public utility, and able to sustain itself solely on what it produces, grows, raises and harvests.
This means it is important for the owner be able to monitor his current power generation throughout his property to be able to proactively plan, eliminate waste factors and also highlight key efficient areas.
Proton was installed to monitor main incoming electricity, biomass generation, solar thermal generation, solar pv generation and ground source heat pumps. Reports of all systems are then automatically emailed on a monthly basis to the farm owner.
One month on from installation and the customer has halved their energy consumption at Berry Farm. They are well on their way to achieving self-sufficient status by 2018.
