One of the key’s to their success was growing their business around Optergy’ Smart Building Software. We caught up with Gene Ong for a Q&A session at the awards ceremony.
Q. Gene, when did you decide to partner with Optergy?
A. We became a partner very early on when we were setting up our business. The quality of Optergy’s products was very impressive. It was tough getting our business off the ground but having great products and support from Optergy really helped.
Q. Why did you choose Optergy?
A. Initially, we became a partner because we needed inexpensive, high-quality BACnet and Modbus software which would enable us to help our clients manage the comfort conditions within their buildings and achieve a higher LEED and GBI (Green Building Index – Malaysia) rating.
On top of this, we needed a reliable tenant billing system to help our clients with cost recovery from tenants. Initially, we thought this tall order would require us to use at least three different software solutions. However, Optergy’s Smart Building Software has all of these applications built into a single platform. As a single solution, Optergy not only makes it easy for us to deliver a project but also helps us to be the lowest total installed cost. We win more jobs and the client gets a cheaper and better overall solution, everyone is happy.
Q. How has your partnership with Optergy added value to your business?
A. Seven years ago, we started with nothing. Now, with all these applications built into one system Optergy have enabled us to win more projects, take more scope and provide Smart Building Solutions. This then flows on to our service department because once Optergy is installed, our service team can return to a site and leverage the 50+ build in applications to offer more value-added solutions to our existing clients.
